Race for the Cure
October 9, 2013 4:35 pmOn Saturday October 5th, the Updegraff Laser Vision Team joined the Susan G. Komen Foundation to “Race for the Cure” and support their fight against breast cancer. The race was held at Vinoy Park in St. Petersburg and the team at Updegraff Laser Vision joined thousands of other racers and supporters. With an estimated 250,000 new cases of breast cancer in the United States each year, the Susan G. Komen foundation and “Race for the Cure” help to raise awareness and strive to one day fulfill the promise on which the foundation was started: TO FIND A CURE FOR BREAST CANCER.
Jennifer Sasser who raced for the Updegraff team, recalls her experience, “Updegraff Laser Vision was very excited to be a part of the Race for the Cure and to help support the fight against breast cancer. We had a great time going out to Vinoy park and participating in the race on Saturday. It is important to our company to support charities and our community. This event means a lot to me personally having had family members and friends suffer from breast cancer. It was a beautiful day and being there early watching the sunrise and knowing that we were helping out a great cause was amazing!”
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and organizations like Susan G. Komen, the NFL, Updegraff Laser Vision, and many more, unite with one common goal: to raise awareness and one day eradicate breast cancer.
We invite you to look through our photos from the race. Thank you for all your support.
